BCLB lifts suspension on SportPesa’s operating license
The Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) has lifted the suspension of the operating license for Milestone Games Limited, the outfit which now owns SportPesa.
The turn-around comes after the High Court ruled in favor of Milestone in a suit where BCLB had sought to prevent the use of the SportPesa name and USSD codes
Sportpesa announced their grand return a few weeks ago, but their move was canceled by the Betting Control and licensing board.
Their return geared excitement amongst betting lovers to what ended as a disappointment. Sportpesa earlier this year had announced their exit from the Kenyan market after the Government imposed a tough and heavy tax on betting firms.
This a good message to betting lovers as earlier today, the betting control and licensing board has issued a go-ahead to Sportpesa CEO Robert Karauri.
Sportpesa is expected to announce their return anytime from now.
Return of Sportpesa will see other betting firms receive stiff competition from the multi-billion Milestone gaming limited operating license.
